The Chairperson of the Sri Lanka tourism Development Authority (SLTDA), Kimarli Fernando has accused some dominative industry bodies of executing their agenda over the actual expectations of the industry.

In a statement posted on her facebook page, Fernando said that for far too long, Sri Lanka Tourism has been represented by just a few dominative industry bodies who executed their agenda over the actual expectations of the Industry.

She said that with the recent exercises of her administration to approach the actual industry representation, she met with over 25 representatives of small and medium luxury properties.

“It was refreshing to understand how they commended Sri Lanka Tourism's approach to allow them to have a credible voice and also they went on to commend specifically our manner of handling and working with foreign media through times of crisis,” she added.

Fernando said that their concerns with respect to the small luxury accommodation sector was discussed and under an Immediate Crisis Management approach, it was mutually decided to address them through a joint and a healthy collaboration of both SLTDA as well as the Industry and their best practices.
