Ukraine suggests stipulating in security agreement that it will not join any military-political alliances

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) In case of concluding an international security agreement, Ukraine intends to undertake not to deploy foreign military bases, military contingents in its territory and not to join any military-political alliances.
'Under such guarantees [in the future agreement], which are in fact equal to the guarantees of NATO Charter's Article 5, we will not deploy foreign military bases and military contingents in our territory and will not enter into any military-political alliances. Military exercises in our territory will be held with the consent of the guarantor states,' diplomat Oleksandr Chaly, a participant in the negotiation process on the Ukrainian side, said at a briefing in Istanbul, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

referendum At the same time, he assured that the future agreement should stipulate that none of the guarantor states will deny Ukraine's right to join the EU and that the guarantor states are committed to promoting these processes.

Crimea As reported, Davyd Arakhamiya, head of the Servant of the People parliamentary faction, member of the Ukrainian delegation at the talks with Russia, has stated that Ukraine suggests that the UN Security Council members should join the international security guarantees treaty, while a threat response mechanism should be similar to Article 5 of the NATO Charter, but providing for no more than three days of consultations.
