Ukraine calls on UN International Court of Justice to order Russia to end war in Ukraine MFA
(MENAFN- UkrinForm) Ukraine calls on the UN International Court of Justice to impose precautionary measures and order the Russian Federation to immediately cease hostilities in Ukraine.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine posted the relevant statement on Facebook, Ukrinform reports.
According to the ministry, the hearings under Ukraine's lawsuit against Russia in genocide case have been commenced at the UN International Court of Justice.
“The Ukrainian delegation appeals to the UN International Court of Justice to impose the following precautionary measures in this case, in order to stop the bloodshed: the Russian Federation must immediately stop the hostilities which have been started on the territory of Ukraine dated February 24, 2022 and make sure immediately that every military and any other armed formations under its authority, supervision or influence stopped to engage the hostilities,” the report says.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Dmytro Kuleba stated that the Ukrainian diplomacy continues to defend not only the freedom and independence of Ukraine, but also the entire international legal order.
“The UN International Court of Justice must stand with Ukraine and immediately impost precautionary measures: order to the Russian Federation to stop hostilities immediately,” Kuleba said.
As reported, on February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin declared war on Ukraine and launched a large-scale invasion.
