Afghanistan - Afghan-Pak Chaman crossing reopens after four days

Local officials of the southern Kandahar province said that the Chaman crossing in the Spin Boldak district of the province reopened on Sunday, February 27, 2022, after it remained closed for four days.
The crossing closed on Thursday after clashes between Pakistani border guards and the Taliban that affected hundreds of pedestrians on both sides.
Both the Pakistani and Afghan security forces accused each other of causing the clashes.
Spokesman of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan Zabiullah Mujahid had said that the problem is small but had added that the Pakistani force had opened fires initially.
This comes as commerce ministers of Afghanistan and Pakistan are all set to meet at the Torkham crossing on Monday to discuss various issues at the crossing point.
The Durand Line has been one of the biggest controversial issues for the Taliban after they recaptured power in Afghanistan.
The Taliban border guards in several provinces destroyed fences erected by the Pakistani forces along the line.
