Doctor shot dead after escaping checkpoint in Kabul

KABUL (Pajhwok): A doctor was shot dead by security forces after he did not stop his vehicle during a cordon in capital Kabul, officials said Saturday.

According to reports, the doctor owned a private clinic in Dehmazang area of ​​Kabul city and was on his way to his work on Friday morning when the incident happened near Kabul University.

Kabul police spokesman, Khalid Zadran, told Pajhwok Afghan News that residents of the area had complained about the presence of robbers in the area a few days ago and security forces had set up a checkpoint in the area on Friday.

“The doctor did not stop after being signaled by security forces and one of the security forces fired at his vehicle to target its tires, but the doctor was killed in the firing,” he said.

Zadran said security forces had arrested the man who fired the shots and an investigation was underway into the incident.
