(MENAFN- Khaama Press)

The Indian government has announced that their wheat pledged with the Afghan people will finally be allowed to reach Afghanistan through Pakistan.

Indian media has quoted officials in the Foreign Ministry of the country that the delivery of 50,000 tonnes of wheat will start in February.

The wheat has been waiting for months to come to Afghanistan but Pakistan was not allowed the shipment to take place through its soil.

Indian officials have said that negotiations with the Pakistani side are still going on and the delivery of the humanitarian aid is more likely to begin next month.

Earlier, the Pakistani embassy in Kabul had said that they have agreed to allow the wheat into Afghanistan in Afghan trucks and those of the WFP.

In the meantime, Iran and India in their recent bilateral negotiations touched upon the delivery of wheat, and Iran had agreed to allow the aids to reach Afghanistan through its port.
