Bahrain selects 1st diplomat to Syria in decade

(MENAFN) Bahrain selected its first diplomat to Syria in 10 years when it cut political bonds with Damascus in 2012.

King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa published a royal declaration, assigning Waheed Mubarak Sayyar as the nation’s diplomat to Syria, the official Bahrain News Agency reported.

In 2012, Bahrain and Oman lessened their political exemplification in Syria, replying to the Bashar al-Assad regime’s merciless curb on complaints that released in 2011, and nations such as the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait stopped its relations with the regime.

On the other hand, The UAE, opened its embassy again in Damascus on December 27, 2018 and selected a charge d'affaires, while Oman as well returned its diplomat to Damascus on October 5, 2020.
