Doha: The Indonesian Embassy in Qatar celebrated the 93rd Mother's Day in Doha.

Indonesian Ambassador to the country H E Ridwan Hassan led the event, which was attended by the staff of the embassy, Indonesian Ladies Association, and Indonesian women diaspora.

Part of the event was a discussion on the theme“Smart ways to manage family finances,” where women participated in this dialogue. As part of the celebrations, a virtual webinar on mental health spearheaded by Dr. Aisha Dahlan was also conducted.

Ambassador Hassan speaking on the occasion said:“Mother's Day celebration for the Indonesian people always remains a special moment. It is not merely an occasion to express gratitude for the services of mothers, which is inevitable. But most importantly, Mother's Day aims to pay attention to and recognise the importance of women's existence in various development sectors.”

Indonesia celebrates Mother's Day on December 22 every year, which is dedicated to Indonesian women fighters in 1928. These women celebrated Mother's Day in recognition of their status as Mothers of the Nation.

December 22 in Indonesia is an official holiday under Presidential Decree No. 316/1953. The day is celebrated on the anniversary of the opening day of the first Indonesian Women Congress, which was held from December 22 to 25, 1928.
