Ethiopia: Strategic cities under rebels’ takeover

(MENAFN) On Tuesday, Dec. 7 Ethiopia declared, following the seizure of Dessie and Kombolcha’s chief cities from Tigray protestors, the nation kept a record of mass real-estate damages and murders.

Billene Seyoum, a representative in the office of the prime minister, stated at a press briefing that the Tigray People's Liberation Front (TPLF) face charges of violating human rights during their takeover of the city.

She reported, “There are reports of mass killings in Gashena and the Northern Shoa town of Antsokia. Vast reports of rape are also emerging across these towns that were occupied by TPLF,” adding “further investigations are needed to expose the grave human rights violations committed by TPLF.”

The prime minister's office also mentioned their takeover of strategic cities, as she said: “It is to be noted that a week ago up to 12 of TPLF's senior ranking military personnel were taken out. Yesterday’s feat is a strong blow to the terrorist group that is in disarray. Great numbers of TPLF fighters are being apprehended with many also heeding the call to surrender.”
