Cambodia forces travel restrictions on travelers coming from 10 African nations due to Omicron

(MENAFN) Cambodia has forced a travel ban on 10 African nations, mid increasing worry about the new omicron Covid-19 strain.

According to the Health Ministry statement on Monday night, short-term procedure is going to be applied starting from Wednesday and applies to Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Angola, as well as Zambia.

The constraints are going to also include travelers coming from or transiting via these nations. “Those who have a travel history to these 10 countries in the past three weeks are also banned from entering Cambodia by air or land or water,” the ministry stated.

Based on the World Health Organization, the omicron variant, detected by South African scientists the previous week, conveys an extremely high risk of being infected.
