France calls of discussions with UK over British Prime Minister letter


(MENAFN) On Friday France's interior minister annulled a conference with the UK's home secretary arranged for the weekend over a public memo by UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson on the refugee emergency emerging in the Channel.

Based on broadcaster France24, call off his gathering with UK's Home Secretary Priti Patel, arranged after 27 refugees drowned while attempting to cross the waterway to Britain, Interior Minister Gerard Darmanin stated that Johnson's letter was a "disappointment."

The letter, directed to France's President Emmanuel Macron and published on Twitter, recommended that France retrieve refugees who go through the English Channel. Declaring that Patel was no longer summoned to France, Darmanin stated that the fact that the letter had been published openly on social media made it even worse.
