BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 20. The Trans
Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) consortium is currently conducting tests on
pipeline materials for hydrogen readiness, TAP AG consortium told
Trend .
TAP AG recalled that on 2021, an initial study on hydrogen
readiness verified TAP's capability to transport hydrogen blend in
the future.
"Having invested in developing the necessary test facilities, we
are currently conducting tests on pipeline materials. We are on
schedule to receive the initial results for the offshore pipeline
during Q3 2024. The results will be assessed, and we anticipate
carrying out further testing during Q4 2024," said the
consortium.
TAP transports natural gas from the giant Shah Deniz field in
the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea to Europe. The 877 km
long pipeline connects with the Trans Anatolian Pipeline (TANAP) at
the Turkish-Greek border in Kipoi, crosses Greece and Albania and
the Adriatic Sea, before coming ashore in Southern Italy.
TAP facilitates gas supplies to Southeastern European countries
through existing and prospective interconnectors. TAP is connected
to Interconnector Greece Bulgaria (IGB) which started its
commercial operations in October 2022, providing Caspian gas to
Bulgaria.
TAP's shareholding is comprised of bp (20%), SOCAR (20%), Snam
(20%), Fluxys (20%), Enagás (20%).
