Jordan's embassy in Paris celebrates Salt's inclusion on World Heritage List

(MENAFN- Jordan Times) AMMAN — In the presence of the Jordanian and Egyptian tourism ministers, the Jordanian embassy in Paris on Friday organised a reception to celebrate the inclusion of Salt on the World Heritage List.

Welcoming attendees, Jordanian Tourism Minister Nayef Al Fayez thanked the organisers, highlighting that the ministry is working on a programme to promote Salt globally through the media and communicate with international tourist agencies to include Salt in their promotional programmes.

Listing Salt's achievement would enhance tourism in the city. This would reflect positively on the development of the city and its neighbouring areas through tourism projects that create job opportunities for young people, the minister said.

Jordan's Ambassador to France Makram Qaisi said that a request to include Jordan's national dish mansaf — a dish made of rice, lamb and low-fat yoghurt — on the World Heritage List 2022 will be submitted.

Multiple ambassadors and diplomats affiliated with UNESCO, representatives of the French government, head of the Jordanian-French Friendship Committee Senator Cyril Pellevat, Jordanian and French businesspeople, the regional director of the Royal Jordanian in Paris and the embassy's staff participated in the ceremony.

The ceremony featured musical and dance performances and a documentary showcasing the preparation of mansaf and its importance to various social occasions in the Kingdom.

Concluding the event, attendees were served mansaf, kunafa and Arab sweets and given Dead Sea products.
