Chinese mobile phone shipments hit 227 mln units in 1st 8 months

(MENAFN) Figures from the China Academy of Information and Communications technology (CAICT) showed that the Chinese mobile phone shipments came in at 227 million units in the January-August period of 2021, a rise by 12.3 percent year over year.
The CAICT, a research institute under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology stated that last month, China’s mobile phone shipments decreased 9.7 percent year over year hitting 24.3 million units.
The figures demonstrated that an overall of 57 new models were revealed in August, a rise by 50 percent from a year ago.
China’s local brands kept dominate mobile phone shipments in the past month. Their shipments reached 22.8 million units, accounting for 93.8 percent of the entire shipments.
