Thailand: Increase 8.9 pct seen in exports during August

(MENAFN) On Friday, Sep. 24 official figures demonstrated the Thai exports, a main driver of the nation’s economic expansion surged 8.9 percent year over year last month.

The expansion dropped from a rise of 20.3 percent recorded during July, said the Ministry of Commerce, which ascribed the slower expansion to curfew procedures that weighed on manufacturing and logistics.

In the January-August period of 2021, Thailand’s exports came to USD176.96 billion, an increase 15.2 percent from one year ago.

The United States, China and Japan were the country’s top three export markets, with shipment in USD-denominated value to the three nations surged 20.6 percent, 27.9 percent and 13.5 percent year over year each in the first eight months.
