QU, RBAT sign agreement on research and development


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Qatar University College of Engineering (QU-CENG) and Rheinmetall Barzan Advanced Technologies (RBAT) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish collaboration in research consultancy and knowledge transfer.

The MoU was signed by Dr. Omar Al Ansari, Vice-President Academic Affairs at QU, and Andre Conradie, Chief Executive Officer of RBAT.

QU is keen to promote and enhance relations with RBAT to establish cooperation covering different scientific, administrative, technical, and research. The MoU aims to establish collaboration between both organisations in the academic, research, student training, and support fields and the exchange of information and consultancy. 

In terms of the MoU, QU-CENG will provide RBAT with consultancy and workshops covering different areas. QU-CENG faculty will also support RBAT's projects by ensuring knowledge transfer and progressive development of existing projects. 

Commenting on the MoU, QU-CENG Dean Dr. Khalid Kamal Naji said,“The MoU highlights QU-CENG's continuous efforts to provide solutions to local challenges, in line with national priorities towards a knowledge-based economy. It will also serve to facilitate knowledge and technology transfer and provide consultancy and research services, which will contribute to driving socio-economic development and sustainability in the State of Qatar.”

Andre Conradie, CEO of RBAT, said,“This MoU will support the establishment of new relations towards fruitful cooperation between RBAT and QU, the leading national edifice in the field of academic and research excellence.”  

“We hope that this memorandum will be a path for further cooperation and integration with the College of Engineering at Qatar University, and developing the skills of students who are the main element for the success of long-term development plans in support of achieving Qatar National Vision 2030,” he added.

RBAT provides leading technologies and innovative military-grade solutions in the fields of Qatari-developed command and control, autonomous systems, and critical infrastructure protection, and live military training.
