Royal Committee to Modernise the Political System's subcommittees concluded work, Rifai announces

(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman, Sept. 15 (Petra)-- Chair of the Royal Committee to Modernise the Political System, Samir Rifai, said its sub-committees have concluded their work, after discussions that lasted about three months.
Speaking to the Committee's members on Wednesday, Rifai said the past months witnessed differences in opinions, which is "healthy and required," adding that the "nation's interests were the common base for the committee's work."
The most important feature of the committee's work and its members is the "positive" engagement with society, the media, and political and popular players, Rifai noted.
All stakeholders dealt with "a spirit of cooperation and partnership, and presented mature proposals and very important ideas that reflect Jordanians' passion to achieve a better future for their country," he noted, adding that these ideas are a cornerstone of the recommendations made by the sub-committees.
Rifai indicated that the committee relied on the principles of the Jordanian state and its Arab and Islamic identity in its work.
Current discussions, he said, will frame this national effort and will open "broad" prospects for empowering youth and women, and enhancing their roles.
The committee's members will begin today to discuss outcomes of the youth, women, local administration committees, with the aim of endorsing their final version, according to Rifai.
The committee will discuss outcomes "successively" in the coming days, he noted, noting it has fulfilled its tasks, and was able to establish a "broad and healthy" public debate about its work, Rifai pointed out.
The committee, he said, has adopted a policy of transparency and openness, as the path of democracy, especially that its work will affect all Jordanians for many years to come.
