(MENAFN- UkrinForm) The promotion of the Ukrainian language is one of the main issues when approving the norms of the Law“On Ensuring the Functioning of the Ukrainian Language as the State Language”.
Commissioner for the Protection of the Ukrainian Language Taras Kremin said this in an interview, Ukrinform reports with reference to his press service.
“Ukraine's steps to approve the state language are taken in the right direction and strengthened by the actions of intellectuals and masters of the literary and cultural environment. However, there should be a clear and accessible strategy for promoting Ukrainian. I would very much like Ukraine to be spoken about positively in terms of national and linguistic dignity and large international business projects,” he said.
According to the commissioner, on the way to implementing the norms of the language law, Ukraine has considerable domestic support of a conscious part of civil society, as well as the assistance of our international partners.
On April 25, 2019, the Verkhovna Rada adopted the Law of Ukraine“On Ensuring the Functioning of the Ukrainian Language as the State Language”. Its articles are being implemented in stages. The vast majority of its rules came into force on July 16, 2019.
On January 16, 2021, rules of Article 30 of the Law“On Ensuring the Functioning of the Ukrainian Language as the State Language” regulating the use of the state language in the field of consumer service came into force.
According to the new rules, customer service must be provided in the state language. In particular, this applies to enterprises, institutions and organizations of all forms of ownership; individual entrepreneurs; business entities providing services to consumers (including online stores).
On June 21, 2019, the Constitutional Court received a submission from 51 MPs regarding the constitutionality of the law.
On July 14, 2021, the Constitutional Court of Ukraine recognized the Law of Ukraine“On Ensuring the Functioning of the Ukrainian Language as the State Language” as constitutional.
