AfDB inks accord with Cameroon to build ring road in restless Anglophone region

(MENAFN) On Friday, Jun. 18 the African Development Bank (AfDB) and Cameroonian administration inked an agreement of 106 billion CFA francs (around USD192 million) to build a key ring road in Cameroon’s restless Anglophone region of Northwest.

The bank had offered the loan in the course of its commitment to help apply reforms and improvement ventures in the region, stated AfDB Central African Director General Serge N'Guessan.

N'Guessan said to reporters after the deal was inked in the capital of Yaounde: "road is a backbone of development and you know that this region has a lot of potentials. The government and the bank are working together to make sure that this time, this road happens for the good of the population."

Official said that the ring road will connect six of the seven divisions of the region and also ease trade with adjacent Nigeria upon achievement.
