Vietnamese fruit export to China increases in Jan.-May period


(MENAFN) On Wednesday, Jun. 16 Vietnam’s Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development said that the country’s fruit export to China saw robust expansion in the January-May period of 2021 in spite of the coronavirus pandemic.

The ministry's most recent report said as quoted by local media Vietnam News that during the months, the country exported more than 468,000 tons of mangoes to China, 12 percent higher than the overall volume of last year; 348,000 tons of bananas, 87 percent of the volume of 2020; and 301,000 tons of jackfruit, 92 percent of the volume of 2020, amongst others.

The report noted that up to now, 1,703 planting zones and 1,776 packing facilities in the country that produce fresh fruit and products have been given codes for exporting to China.

During the January-May period of this year, the whole export turnover of Vietnam’s agricultural, forestry and fishery produce hit USD22.6 billion, a rise by 30.1 percent annually. Figures from the ministry showed that China is now the largest market for the country’s agricultural products.
