Chinese 1st 4 months retail trade rises 29.6 pct


(MENAFN) On Monday, May. 17 the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) stated that the Chinese retail trade of consumer merchandise climbed 29.6 percent annually during the January-April period of the current year.

The expansion reversed from drops witnessed during the same period of 2020, when consumer expenditure was disturbed by the coronavirus epidemic.

The NBS noted that average Jan.-April expansion for the last two years reached 4.2 percent.

In the past month, retail trade rose 17.7 percent annually and was higher by 8.8 percent from the 2019 level. The two-year average expansion was 4.3 percent.
