Belgium lifts curfew among Coronavirus relaxation measures

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) BRUSSELS, May 8 (KUNA) -- People in Belgium from today no longer need to observe a curfew and stay indoors at night. The curfew has been replaced by a ban on gatherings in public. Gatherings are limited to three individuals between the hours of midnight and 5:00 am.
The Belgian government in October had announced a series of restrictions, including a night-time curfew to check and curb the spread of the pandemic.
But recent downward trend in Coronavirus indicators led the government to relax some of restrictions. Restaurants and cafes are once again allowed to serve customers, but only outdoors.
People can now welcome two guests at home at the same time instead of only one as long as both guests are from the same household.
Up to 50 people can attend cultural events, performances and religious ceremonies outdoors.
Youth and sports clubs may stage organised activities for up to 25 participants in open air. Amusement parks and jumble sales are once again permitted. (end)
