20 Afghan troops killed by Taliban rebels

(MENAFN) Local authorities announced on Monday that at least 20 security personnel were shot dead in a major Taliban assault on a military base in Afghanistan's western Farah province, which borders Iran.

The Taliban launched the assault on Sunday evening in the tense Bala Bulok area, according to members of the provincial assembly.

As per Dad Ullah, a council member, the Taliban set fire to the military station after murdering the troops deployed there.

According to a number of other government politicians cited by Salam Afghanistan radio, the insurgents dug a tunnel up to this military base in order to get in and destroy security forces during the night.
