N. Afghan conflict results in 8 deaths


(MENAFN) Provincial police spokesman Ahmad Jawed Basharat said in a statement that a clash flared up in Afghanistan's northern Baghlan province on Monday, killing eight people including six insurgents and two security personnel.


The fighting broke out as a group of Taliban rebels targeted the security checkpoints in Baghlan-e-Markazi district of the restive province early morning, prompting heavy combat which took a couple of hours to end. However, the insurgents escaped after reporting six deaths.

According to the official, the clash also resulted in the killing of two security personnel, and the injuring of six more security personnel and eight militants.

Basharat further included that the security troops would keep on hunting the activists in Baghlan-e-Markazi district and its neighborhood.
