Tokyo shares recover in morning on bargain-hunting


(MENAFN) Early on Monday, Apr. 19 Tokyo shares recovered as issues that were at first sold on worries over coronavirus condition in Japan were bought back as shareholders hunted bargains.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 64.73 points, or 0.22 percent, from Friday reaching 29,748.10.

In the meantime, the broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange climbed 1.51 points, or 0.08 percent, hitting 1,962.38.

Among those that added the most by the morning break were marine transport, metal product, and pulp and paper issues.
