Rise witnessed in Chinese mobile phone shipments in March


(MENAFN) Figures from the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT) demonstrate that the Chinese mobile phone shipments climbed 65.9 percent annually to 36.09 million units in March.

The CAICT, a research institution under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology stated that during the first quarter of the year, the country's mobile phone shipments surpassed 97.97 million units, a rise by 100.1 percent in comparison with a year ago.

Local brands kept leading mobile phone shipments last month, reaching 33.35 million units and making up for 92.4 percent of overall shipments.

Smartphone shipments stood at 35.27 million units in March, increasing 67.7 percent annually.
