HCBA Calls For Legal Action, Kargil Clerics To Hold Protest On Friday
Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir High Court Bar Association (HCBA) on Monday called for legal action under blasphemy laws against former chairman of Shia Central Waqf Board Waseem Rizvi, while the clerics in Kargil have called for peaceful protests on Friday against the petition filed in Supreme Court seeking removal of 26 verses from the holy Quran.
In a statement issued here on Monday, the HCBA termed the writ petition filed by Rizvi before the top court as a move to hurt the piousness and dignity of the Holy Quran.
"It shows mental bankruptcy and devilistic mentality of the said person by doing so, he has not hurt us, but also the sentiments of whole Muslim community all over the globe," the Bar statement said. It said that Rizvi was liable to be prosecuted and punished in terms of law for his blasphemous Act.
"Seeking interpretation from the Court of law of 26 Verses of the Holy Quran is outside the purview of judicial review," the statement said.
According to the handout, the Bar members on Monday held a protest demonstration inside the court premises, against the blasphemous move of so called Rizvi and have urged the authorities to take action against him in terms of the law

Ulama Isna Asharia Kargil-Ladakh, Sheikh Nazir Mehdi said that the former chairman of UP Shia Waqf Board, Waseem Rizvi was not a community member but simply an opportunist, a 'lunatic' against whom multiple criminal and cheating cases stand registered.
Mehdi threw light on the beauty and uniqueness of holy Quran quoting a verse from Surat Al-Hijr saying: 'Indeed, it is We who sent down the Quran and indeed, We will be its guardian.'
He said there is no doubt in this Holy Book and Allah has taken the responsibility to guard it.
Mehdi said the former Shia Waqf Board chairman was facing CBI probe over his hand in illegal sale, purchase and transfer of Waqf properties in Prayagraj and Kanpur districts.
He said that all the Shias have firm belief that the Quran, which was revealed to Prophet Mohammed (PBUH), was authentic till today and would remain so till the Day of Judgment. (With agency inputs)
