Turkey receives over half million travelers


(MENAFN)The country’s Culture and tourism Ministry said on Monday, February 22, Turkey welcomed 509,787 foreign tourists in the first month of 2021.
The official statistics revealed that the numbers dropped 71.48 percent year-on-year in January from 1.8 million because of the coronavirus pandemic measures.
Istanbul continued to be Turkey’s summit tourist center, drawing almost 65.7 percent of foreign tourists -- 334,825 persons.
Edirne in northwestern Turkey, which borders both Bulgaria and Greece, witnessed the second-highest number of outsiders, with 52,698.
