(MENAFN- Daily Outlook Afghanistan) KABUL - India has pledged to donate 500,000 doses of coronavirus vaccine to Afghanistan, authorities said on Monday.
The doses of vaccine, made in India, will be administered to 250,000 people in Afghanistan, the country's health ministry said.
Afghan deputy health minister, Bashir Noormal, said that people with higher vulnerability to the disease will be first to get the vaccine.
So far, India has made 16.5 million doses of covid-19 vaccines, with 11 million Covishield shots and the rest Covaxin, and plans to secure more jabs later this month.
It plans to vaccinate 270 million people — elderly above 50 years of age and those below 50 but with severe comorbidities — by August.
Bhutan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, the Maldives, and Mauritius are other countries that are expected to receive free doses of COVI-19 vaccine from India. (1TV NEWS)
