Riyadh, December 31, 2020, SPA -- Saudi newspapers highlighted in their editorials today a number of issues at local, regional and international arenas.
Al-Riyadh and Al-Eqtisadiah newspapers reported in their editorials that the communications sector in Saudi Arabia is witnessing many qualitative leaps and contributes to realizing the Kingdom's Vision 2030. As a result, the digital economy has been the center of the attention of economic decision-makers, especially HRH Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
The newspapers added that the Cabinet's approval to launch a digital economy policy came to confirm the transformation that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is going through, which is an extension of Saudi Arabia's efforts to support the development of the national economy, increase the Kingdom's competitiveness, and expand sustainable development and economic diversification.
The Saudi Vision 2030 has achieved many of its objectives since its launch. During 2018, Fiber-Optic Network capacity increased and covered 700,000 houses across the country, an increase of more than 300% compared to 2017. During this week, Saudi Telecom Company (STC), the largest telecom operator in the Kingdom, and eWTP Arabia Capital, one of the largest venture capital funds in the region, jointly announced that they will partner with Alibaba Cloud, the digital technology and intelligence backbone of Alibaba Group to provide the high-performance public cloud service in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, as this partnership makes a strong effort towards realization of the goals of the Kingdom's Vision 2030, the newspapers concluded.
Al-Yaum newspaper said in its editorial that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia made tireless efforts to protect human rights regionally and internationally, as well as to achieve a prosperous environment for all people.
The newspaper pointed to the Cabinet's reiterated call for allied and friendly countries along with financial and international institutions to urgently respond to Sudan's needs, and start exempting Sudan from its debts. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia welcomed the announcement by the U.S administration regarding the removal of Sudan from the list of state sponsors of terrorism, which confirm the Saudi Arabia's keenness to achieve the security, development and prosperity of Sudan's brotherly people.
In this regard, the newspaper also pointed to the Cabinet's condemnation and denunciation of the terrorist attacks on vital installations, the latest of which were the attack with a booby-trapped boat on a ship intended to transport fuel in Jeddah, the bombing targeted a gathering for reciting the Holy Quran in Ghazni Province, Afghanistan, and the terrorist attack targeted the Green Zone in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad.
