Hong Kong exchange reveals plans to increase joint market access

(MENAFN) Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEX) declared detailed plans to enlarge the Stock Connect, a landmark joint market access program linking Hong Kong and mainland equity markets.

According to the HKEX report, the growth will permit Hong Kong backers to purchase some stocks traded in the Sci-Tech Innovation Board of the Shanghai exchange, usually recognized as the STAR market, as early as 2021.

Mainland sponsors will also be able to purchase shares of some Hong Kong-listed biotech firms expectedly from the end of 2020.
