Qatar- Police College celebrates decoration of students in Thunderbolt Commandos and Diving courses


(MENAFN- Gulf Times) The Police College celebrated the decoration of students of Thunderbolt Commandos for the third batch of students and the students of the fourth batch of diving courses, which were carried out earlier this year.
The ceremony was attended by HE Advisor to the Minister of Interior and Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council of Police College Major-General Dr Abdullah Yousef al-Mal, and Director-General of the Police College Brigadier Mohammed Abdullah al-Muhana al-Marri, Director of the Joint Special Forces Staff Brigadier General Muhammad Naji al-Hababi and a number of officers of the Ministry of Interior as well as the Joint Special Forces and the Lekhwiya Force.
In a speech on this occasion, the Director-General of the Police College Brigadier Mohammed Abdullah al-Muhana al-Marri expressed happiness that the students of the third and fourth classes passed the Thunderbolt and Diving courses.
Al Marri said the specialised courses qualify the candidate students to successfully deal with all security tasks, given the various and distinguished training they offer and that develop the candidate's field skills and raise security capabilities.
The Director-General of the Police College indicated that these programmes require high physical fitness and endurance, in addition to psychological and mental readiness and the ability to make decisions.
For his part, the Director of the Training Department at the Police College Major Fahad Saeed al-Subaie, stressed the importance of such training courses organised by the college according to the highest standards.
Al Subaie said the students mastery of all complex exercises and scenarios in the specialised courses was a result of the quality of the approved training programme level in the college.
The Thunderbolt course lasted nine weeks and was divided into two phases; the first is the preparatory period, in which the nominated students received theoretical and practical lectures, in addition to focusing on exercise to raise the level of physical fitness.
The second phase was executive and lasted six weeks, and it included several exercises, including field skills, fighting in populated areas, patrols, descending towers, self-defence, the long march and other exercises.
With regard to the diving course, it included two training tracks, 'theoretical and practical, the theoretical part contained many axes, including the basics and physics of diving.
The practical training programme included basic diving skills.
At the end of the ceremony, HE Advisor to the Minister of Interior and Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council of Police College Major-General Dr Abdullah Yousef al-Mal decorated the graduates of the two courses with the badges of the Thunderbolt and Diving courses, and honoured officers and trainers of the Joint Special Forces and Lekhwiya Force, in appreciation of the efforts they made in training Police College candidates in specialised courses.
