Jordan- JMI trains 44 young men, women on media education, awareness

(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman, Nov. 15 (Petra) - The Jordan Media Institute (JMI) has recently trained 44 young men and women from civil society institutions and newly graduated alumni from journalism faculties countrywide, an initiative that has produced content groups contributing to propagating media education concepts among their peers.
In a press statement issued on Sunday, the JMI said these training sessions came as part of the "Citizen's Voice" project in Jordan, in partnership with the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), funded by the German Foreign Ministry.
During the three- week course, young people were introduced to media education skills, their impact on their daily lives within the project, which aims to build the participants' capacities targeting representatives of civil society institutions dealing with youth, and journalism and media alumni, and support them to produce interactive educational content that disseminates the culture of critical thinking, and enhances ability to verify and access information sources, added the statement.
During the training, an OECD team met remotely with the participants and viewed their photos, videos and other stories, and listened to their comments on the training sessions, the statement pointed out.
For his part, the OECD policy analyst, Michael Jellink, said: "Such training sessions in media education are important given the rapid development of the media landscape and the changing methods of viewing and sharing information."
