Marriott Hotels charged with USD23,81m for data violation


(MENAFN) The UK's data privacy regulator has charged the Marriott Hotels chain USD23,81 million for a main data violation that may have hit up to 339 million visitors.

The Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) stated that names, contact information, and passport info may all have been given in a cyber-attack.

The violation comprised seven million visitor records for people in the UK.

The ICO stated that the firm failed to put suitable safeguards in place but recognized it had enhanced.
