Kuwait: 699 new COVID-19 infections, 5 deaths

KUWAIT, Aug 14 (KUNA) -- Kuwait witnessed 699 new coronavirus infection cases and five deaths during past 24 hours, official spokesperson of the Ministry of Health Dr. Abdullah Al-Sanad announced.
Dr. Al-Sanad, in a statement to KUNA on Friday, said caseload of infection cases reached 75,185 and death toll hit 494.
Some the cases contracted the virus due to mingling with persons infected with the virus. Contamination circumstances of the others were not determined.
The new batch of the cases included 460 of Kuwaiti citizens and 239 of non Kuwaitis.
The cases were distributed according to health zones as following: 239 in Al-Ahmadi, 135 in Al-Jahra, 124 in Hawally, 121 in Farawaniya and 80 in the capital.
Dr. Al-Sanad has revealed that 115 patients continue to receive medical care at intensive care wards, with the overall count of the proven cases that continue to get the necessary medsical are standing at 7,951.
He also put number of swab tests, conducted during the past 24 hours, at 4,576 with the whole number of such examinations amounting 552,581.
The official spokesman renewed the call upon citizens and expatriates to take necessary precautions against the virus and examine recommendations and guidelines on official websites of the ministry of health and other concerned authorities.
The Kuwaiti Ministry of Health declared earlier today that 641 patients infected with the germ recovered with the caseload of the recuperated amounting 66,740. (end)
