São Paulo – The City Hall in Corumbá, Mato Grosso do Sul got a donation from the Corumbá Arab-Palestinian Society. The group of local Arab descendants donated 72 food kits to the Municipal Secretariat for Social Assistance and Human Rights last Monday (13).
The Secretariat said it will give the kits to vulnerable families. The Society's presidente Munther Suleiman Safa explained that this action from the Arab-Palestinian community is intended to mitigate the effects of the Covid-19 crisis.
A total of 53 kits were supplied to the Secretariat (pictured), with an additional 19 kits given directly to registered vulnerable families.
In a press release, Social Assistance secretary Gláucia dos Santos Iunes heaped praise on the local Arab community. 'We are immensely thankful for the support and sensitivity at this delicate moment we are facing, not only in our family or country, but around the world. Many families will benefit. We are proud to have you as our partners,' said Iunes.
According to the secretary, the food kits will be donated to the families registered with the local Social Assistance that haven't gotten benefits of any kind yet.
