Qatar attends meeting of Committee for Trade Cooperation in Muscat


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) The State of Qatar participated in the 58th meeting of the Committee for Trade Cooperation, the 46th meeting of the Committee for Industrial Cooperation and the first meeting of the GCC Ministerial Committee for Standardisation Affairs, held in Muscat, Oman, with a delegation headed by H E Minister of Commerce and Industry, Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari.

The Committee for Trade Cooperation discussed several issues of common concern, including trade issues, common challenges facing GCC countries, ways to activate joint GCC work in the field of trade, encouraging entrepreneurship and innovation initiatives for SMEs in the GCC, and ways to integrate these compagnies in the fields of economic development, in addition to identifying a common Gulf position on issues related to WTO aspects.

During the meeting of the Committee for Trade Cooperation, Their Excellencies the Ministers welcomed the holding of the annual forum for entrepreneurs during the year 2020 in Dhofar, Oman.

For its part, the Committee for Industrial Cooperation discussed during the 46th meeting a number of issues of concern to the industrial environment in the GCC countries, particularly the unified industrial regulation law, the obstacles and difficulties facing the iron industry sector, as well as the free movement of national goods between GCC countries without customs restrictions.
