Chinese FM meets Italian counterpart in Shanghai

(MENAFN) On Monday, Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi held discussions with Italian Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio, who is in Shanghai for the second China International Import Expo (CIIE).

Wang affirmed that he believes the contribution of Italy, one of the guest nations of honor for the second CIIE, will assist upsurge Italian exports to China and boost development of bilateral economic and trade ties.

Wang emphasized that China appreciates Italy's long-term and strategic perspective in enhancing ties with China, and is ready to work with Italy to support deeper and more concrete cooperation in mutually building the Belt and Road.

Both parties should attempt to enhance people-to-people exchanges and guarantee the success of the China-Italy year of culture and tourism in 2020.
