Deadly boats crash in Philippines, one person missing


(MENAFN) A local official said on Sunday that, four people have been killed and one is missing in crash of two motorboats off southern Philippine Maguindanao region on Saturday night.


The accident occurred around 8:45 PM in Rio Grande de Mindanao, the biggest river in Mindanao and the Philippines' second longest Banjo Mampon, as said by Sultan Kudarat municipal administrator, he also said that, the four people died from drowning and the corpses were recovered on Sunday.



The bigger boat with at least 10 passengers was going to Katidtuan village in Sultan Kudarat from Cotabato City when it was hit by the smaller boat on the Sultan Kudarat side of the river, as said by him.



All passengers and boat operators were thrown off the wooden boats and the survivors mostly swam to the riverbank while others drifted by and were saved by other boats, Authorities are looking for the missing passenger.
