Jordan, Iraq sign deal on peaceful uses of nuclear energy


(MENAFN- Jordan Times) AMMAN — Jordan and Iraq on Saturday signed a cooperation protocol in the field of peaceful uses of nuclear energy as well as a memorandum of understanding to boost technical cooperation.

The protocol, signed by Jordan Atomic Energy Commission (JAEC) Chairman Khaled Toukan and Iraqi Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Qusay Al Suhail, included providing training for Iraqi cadres in this field.

Toukan said that this is a 'positive step', highlighting the 'vital' role of the Jordan Research and Training Reactor in building human capacities, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported. During the ceremony, Suhail expressed his readiness to cooperate in the field of radioactive iodine-131 exportation.
