Former soccer coach investigated by Irish police over abuse

(MENAFN) Police in Northern Ireland have launched probes into the assault accusations against a previous football coach and serial paedophile Barry Bennell.

Bennell has used credibility as his cover, as he took advantage of his position as a respected scout and youth coach to assault young boys through the 1980s and 1990s.

At the top of his career, he travelled to Northern Ireland four times during the Milk Cup tournament, as questions are now being raised about the case.

PSNI declared, "PSNI officers are investigating this complaint and are continuing to work in conjunction with colleagues from the Cheshire Constabulary."
