18 dead in heavy floods in Rwanda


(MENAFN) A Rwandan official declared that over 18 people have died in landslides and floods in the country's west.

Spokesman for the Ministry of Disaster Management and Refugees, Jean Claude Twishime confirmed that floods have left 15 people dead in Karongi district.

He added that another two people have drowned in flooding, as one other victim was hit by lightning.

Some people remain unfound, according to Twishime.
