(MENAFN) A local official declared that around nine people have died and 7 more were injured in shootings in Afghanistan's northern province of Takhar.
Provincial government spokesman Jawad Hejri confirmed:"A gunfight occurred following an argument between members of two irresponsible armed groups in Rustaq district, north-eastern of provincial capital Taluqan city Saturday night".
The police retrieved nine bodies, believed to be those of the militia groups' members, according to Hejri.
A probe has been launched into into the incident.
