China sends rescue team to Mozambique


(MENAFN) On Monday, The number of people affected by Cyclone Idai in Mozambique has increased to 794,000, Mozambican government proclaimed in Beira, Sofala province in Central Mozambique, adding up to 128,941 have already been saved.

The deaths toll settled at 446, according to the Minister of Land, Environment and Rural Development Celso Correia, who talked at a press conference, highlighting that the rescue squads have not yet complete searches at all affected locations.

Correia stated that there were already cases of diarrhea reported in some accommodation centers, but the health system is helping people, and the government is working with partners to make the mitigation plan well-organized.

Asked by Xinhua about the step of assistances and rescues, the minister affirmed the priority is to rescue people by sending food and providing medical care.
