(MENAFN - Gulf Times) Internationally acclaimed musical masterpiece ‘Broken Wings', composed by Dana Alfardan, Qatar's foremost musical composer, in collaboration with West End star Nadim Naaman, has released the second video from the musical soundtrack for the song Selma.
Broken wings is a musical adaptation of Kahlil Gibran's poem, which premiered in London's West End in August 2018, at Theatre Royal Haymarket.
Produced by Ali Matar and directed by Bronagh Lagan, the show is set to return to the stage in 2019, with details of international shows to be announced soon and with Doha potentially on the line-up.
The music video introduces the audience to the masterminds behind ‘Broken Wings'; musician and co-composer Nadim, and Qatari composer Dana. Nadim is on vocals while Dana plays the piano. Inspired by Gibran's life, the video is set in his beautiful hometown, Bcchareh in Lebanon.
Commenting on the video, Dana said: 'Selma's music video aims to capture the essence of Kahlil Gibran's work and philosophy. Choosing to film in Gibran's birthplace pays homage to this visionary's contribution to the literature, poetry and art spheres.
Dana worked with a nine-piece semi-staged production orchestra by Joe Davison (who has worked previously with Adele and Leona Lewis) at the Theatre Royal Haymarket in 2018 to debut ‘Broken Wings'. The events of the musical highlight key issues of the time, yet the themes and debates raised remain increasingly relevant today to both local and international audiences.
Selma is the second official song to be released from the ‘Broken Wings' musical after ‘Spirit of the Earth' was released in April 2018. A ‘Broken Wings' concept album featuring an all-star cast was released in May.
