Qatar Superstock and QTCC to resume at Losail Circuit today


(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Qatar Superstock600 and Qatar Touring Car Championship resumes this weekend at the Losail International Circuit after a month-long break. Saeed al-Sulaiti is leading the standings in the Qatar Superstock 600 with maximum 100 points, having won all the races so far.
Al-Sulaiti is eager to continue is winning run. '‘This is a very important round and I am really looking forward to this weekend's races. We are just in the middle of the championship and we need to continue with the good results in order build a healthy lead going into the final round. I hope to keep my performance at high level, he said.
Mishal al-Naimi is second in the standings with 72 points, while Abdullah al-Qubaisi with 69 points is at third place. In the QSTK Trophy, Jassim al-Thani has taken the lead. 'I am looking forward for another exciting round. Last round I did my personal best lap time and I hope to keep the same performance, said al-Thani. Kuwaiti rider Mohamed al-Zaidan is in second place, while Hassan al-Mansoori occupies third place.
Abdulla al-Khelaifi, the Qatar Touring Car Championship leader, is expecting another thrilling battle with the other competitors. 'We have seen very challenging races in the previous rounds and it gets tougher every time. Newcomers are getting up to speed quickly and this weekend I am sure it will be more competitive, so there is no room for any mistake, said al-Khelaifi.
Mohamed al-Khaiat, who is second with 39 points in the table, was pleased with his performance so far. 'We are glad with the current position as we are in second place. But this season we are not concerned about the points or position. Our main focus is to get a better and understanding the nuances of motorsport, and getting the best set up for the car in order for us to be ready for the next season. We are learning now, but next season we hope to be fully prepared with greater knowledge of the QTCC, he said.
The third place in the standings is Hamad al-Sulaiti with 36 points. 'Last round, I had a problem in the first race and I couldn't finish, so hopefully I have better luck in this round, al-Sulaiti said.
Today, the track activity starts at 9am and finishes at 4:10pm. Tomorrow, there will be two races for each championship, starting at 11:10am with QSTK Race 1 and QTCC Race 1 is at 1pm. There is free entrance for all the fans at the grandstand and also at the Paddock.
