Iran urges Europe to reduce Iranian import tariffs to zero

(MENAFN) Iran sent an appeal to Europe to reduce the tariffs which hit Iranian product imports, pushing it to reach zero.

Citing acting head of the Trade Promotion Organization of Iran (TPO) Mohammadreza Modoudi, Trend reported such an act to be demonstrating Europe's commitment on boosting trade with Iran.

The TPO chief stated that "we expect that European governments will take full advantage of their capacities to develop trade ties with Iran, and we propose that they reconsider their tariffs on the import of Iranian goods."

Modoudi added: "this move may not make much difference to their trade figures with Iran, but it can send a message to the world, especially the US, that Europe is committed to its cooperation with Iran within the framework of the JCPOA."
