Doha: A high-level delegation from the German Football Association visited Aspire Zone Foundation (AZF) to discuss ways of cooperation between the two parties and to benefit from the foundations' expertise in caring for champions and developing their talents, managing sports events and facilities according to highest global standards and sports medicine.
The delegation comprised of Business Manager of the German National Football Team and board member of the association Oliver Bierhoff, fitness coach for German national teams Nicklas Dietrich, head of team management for the German team and head of sales and e-marketing at the association.
The visit is part of the association's plans to create a new sports academy in Frankfurt, in addition to its keenness to more about Aspire zone's experience at a time where the foundation is moving towards achieving its vision to become the reference of global sports excellence by 2020. Both parties will hold a detailed meeting on Wednesday.
The delegation then visited Aspetar to take a closer look on the sports medicine department, orthopedic Surgery, the centre for sports injury surgery, sports dentistry, medical imaging and diagnostic radiology, rehabilitation and laboratories, and services for football players specifically as one of the centres of excellence in sports medicine accredited by FIFA among the 49 centres and clinics in the world.
The delegation then visited Aspire Academy where they took a look at the facilities and establishments of the academy, which includes dormitories, football coaching centre and school and other facilities.
The delegation concluded its tour by visiting Khalifa International Stadium, the first stadium to be ready to host 2022 FIFA World Cup.
