SRK reveals Aamir Khan will play 'Krishna' in 'Mahabharata'

Aamir Khan faced disappointment this year with the failure of Thugs of Hindostan at the box-office.

But, the actor is back in the game and is focusing on his another big project- Mahabharata.

Just a while back, Mahabharata was said to be in the planning-stage and now, Shah Rukh Khan has confirmed that Aamir will be playing the role of Krishna in the film.

Earlier, reports suggested Aamir wasn't planning to do Maharabharata as it had become "tricky" to adapt mythological tales on screen, but SRK put all speculations to rest.

During an interview with DNA, SRK was asked what kind of role he would like to play.

He replied, "Krishna from Mahabharata," but added that the role has already been taken up by his friend Aamir Khan.

If speculations are to be believed, Mahabharata is being made on an extravagant budget of Rs. 1,000 crore.

Also, Aamir reportedly pulled out of Rakesh Sharma biopic Saare Jahan Se Achcha to work on Mahabharata. SRK took the lead role then.

Interestingly, during the promotion of Secret Superstar, Aamir told media that his favorite character is Karna in the epic series.

Meanwhile, 2018 was a tough year for Aamir after Thugs of Hindostan tanked at the box office.

Made with a budget of a whopping Rs. 335 crore, the movie, which also featured megastar Amitabh Bachchan, failed miserably to enthrall the audience.

Aamir had expressed his disappointment and taken full responsibility for its failure but has promised that he won't stop entertaining the audience.

"I would like to take full responsibility for that...You can be sure that we tried our level best...Majority of the people didn't like the film...I want to apologize to the viewers who came to watch my film in the theaters," Aamir said.
