Russian FM meets his Turkish counterpart in Azerbaijan

(MENAFN) On Friday, Turkey's foreign minister encountered his Russian counterpart on the margins of multilateral meeting in the Azerbaijani capital Baku.

After the private meeting, Mevlut Cavusoglu told a news conference that both debated several regional issues, containing the status of Idlib in northwestern Syria and the establishing of a commission to write a new constitution for the war-torn country.

He highlighted the "close" discussion between Presidents Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Vladimir Putin, and added that issues including bilateral trade and the gradual lifting of visa needs, as well as the situation at the Kerch Strait were also deliberated.

Emphasizing both countries' regular military, intelligence and diplomatic collaboration on Idlib, he stated that a new summit would not be essential as there is now no "extraordinary situation" regarding the opposition enclave.
